Merry and I have been delighted to hear how the calendar has been used, and where it has gone. We have been asked if we know the greatest distance it has traveled, and have enjoyed hearing how persons have created their own traditions with it. We are interested in hearing any stories or thoughts you have to share. Do you color in the calendar when you get it? Do you wait and color each day as the season progresses? Was there a particular calendar or a particular devotion one year that moved you? Let us know, by posting a comment here.
I learned about this calendar from Catherine Petersen in Illinois. Each year our church looks forward to receiving it. We include it in our December mailings at church and people use it at home with their kids or for personal devotion. I look forward to seeing what new things appear on this calendar each year. Thank you for all that you do for sharing Christ’s message in this way. It is warming the hearts of Minnesotans.

Tom and Merry –
I have always looked forward to “The Calendar” and am so delighted that you continue the tradition. It is a personal devotion for me and I share it with my congregation, now in Maine. It is such an important part of my Advent tradition as well as a touch point to days gone by.
Thank you for continuing the tradition!

Thank you so much for this wonderful Advent gift. I have missed it for several years and am delighted to find it again. My congregation will thoroughly enjoy it, I’m sure
I have loved meditating with the Advent calendar. I do color in each day’s “art” and then highlight certain words in the scripture for each day with colored pencils also. I like the brevity of the quotes, better for focusing on the essential messasge. Thank you!
Dear Merry and Tom,
Thank you for sharing with us this year’s wonderful calendar and poem. Bob and I send warmest regards for a blessed Advent and Christmas season.

I have loved receiving this Advent calendar for so many years now. It…and the poems…are always so lovely and meaningful. Thank you for continuing to share your many talents and the beauty of the season with many far and wide!
Hi Tom, Thank you 20+ times! We appreciate and enjoy your Advent Calendar every year. Long time no see. 🙂 Merry Christmas, Love, Nancy & Dave
Hi Thomas! I was thrilled to find this link…I didn’t know this was your handiwork! Thank you and blessed Advent!
Thanks Tom and Merry. Thank you for another wonderful gift. Great website. The musical settings are a special treat!
Merry and Tom,
So glad to receive this special offering each year and share it with my family, friends and colleagues at work (Drew University). For me personally, it also provides a warm connection and fond remembrances of ministry served together for years in Troy Conference!!
I look forward to Merry’s and your offering each year to share – often with unchurched friends. Taking an evening or afternoon to color-meditate has been my tradition and I encourage “my” recipients to do the same. As far as distance, I send to friend in TX and my cousin in NH. THANK YOU each, for sharing your gifts so generously with us!!
A Blessed Advent/Christmas Season to you.
Hi Revered Tom, I have posted your Advent calendar on my FB page for our GSS friends (hope that’s ok) and hope you are well, God Bless, Gail (Fleming)
Gail,
Absolutely ok to post! Glad this can be shared with more and more folks!
Tom
I look for this every year, so THANK YOU and MERY. I color mine each year and send to many to partake of the Preparation and Piece of Jesus’ Birth. A blessed Advent and Christmas Season to you both!!
Thank you for the calendar! I printed out a copy for each chaplain here at the University of Iowa Hospitals. May I use Advent 2008 on a sheet of Advent reflections we put in our Meditation Room?
HI Libby,
Yes! Please feel free to use Advent 2008. Thanks for asking and I hope you have a blessed Advent.
Tom
Dear Tom and Merry:
I am doing an on-line advent devotion every day with my church folk based on your suggested verse and theme. I am a bit stumped this evening as I sit down to put together tomorrow’s entry since I cannot find these verses in Lamentations. Can you help?
In gratitude,
–Jill C. Robinson
Jill – We made a mistake! the correct devotion for Monday is: Lamentations 3:22=23.
Sorry!
Tom
Thanks so much, Tom. Sorry I missed seeing your quick reply until just now. What a beautiful gem in the midst of this great lament.
Blessings!
Jill
Thank you so much! I found out about this from Peter Hanson and this will be our third Advent using it. Gratefully, Pastor Joy McDonald Coltvet, Christ on Capitol Hill, Saint Paul
